wildlife fotos

this is the wildlife around etobicoke at my mom's house - her big uggy uggo bulldog - winston, and the wildlife at mathew's parent's house in renfrew, north east ontario. that ten point buck was literally right out the back door. we saw about 8 deer that day grazing on corn a few feet away from us. awesome. much more delicate and beautiful than the honking snot gore of a stinky winston. sorry ol chap, but you stink.

Big things are nice too

This is a giant chest of drawers complete with socks hanging out of one drawer. It is in High Point North Carolina.

Yeah for big things sometimes too! And it's not a sad landmark like the big apple on highway 401 east of Toronto. As seen above - in it's better days. We always get sad when see that apple because it's too close to toronto to be a sign of having gotten anywhere - and on the way home it's too far from toronto to mean we are almost home. It's just sad... no matter how you stack it's sad, it also looks all welfare. why doesn't someone slap a coat of paint on that thing?

poor apple. does anyone ever stop there?

Prada Marfa

...if you haven't heard about this $100,000 art installation yet you just clearly aren't chic enough.

it's in texas near the art hub town of Marfa. it's on a lonely, deserted highway in Texas and it's permanently closed. the doors aren't made to be opened. it is a statement about luxury. i like prada a lot and i like that she (Muccia Prada) takes part in crazy shit like this.

to see more go to it's site Prada marfa.

here's an article about how it got looted and someone took all the untouchable luxury goods and wrote 'dum dum and dumber" instead. that was okay by the artists who made it:

"The show's funders knew the facade wouldn't last. They were even quoted in The New York Times saying they expected vandals. "If someone spray-paints graffiti or a cowboy decides to use it for target practice or maybe a mouse or a muskrat makes a home in it, 50 years from now it will be a ruin that is a reflection of the time it was made," said Yvonne Force Villareal, president of the Art Production Fund in New York. But they had hoped it would decay with time -- not, apparently, overnight." From the article in the Houston press by Greg Harman.

Great Minds Think Tiny

This is the work of Akiko Ida And Pierre Javelle, see their work here. Their website is here.

They are clearly great artists who deeply appreciate the all important aesthetic of tiny.

Excellent work. My favourite are the mushrooms.

Thank you to
Marshall for sending me the link.

Hold Onto Your Hat

big storm in toronto today, blustery north winds and cold, wet snow hits the pavement like annoying little slaps. the cab driver spoke of jamaica. the days longer, the sun omnipresent, the warmth, a glove you get tired of... how time speeds up here because of the punctuation of the seasons... the change in weather - something that one must constantly grow accustommed to.

a moment...

a moment from my day at work...

a regular patron approaches the desk...

Me: "Hello, How are you?"

He: "Drunk"

Felt Bunnies!

These are the lovely felt bunnies that our friend Sarah made for us. She is here from the U.K. for a visit. How great to receive a gift like this! The bunnies are supposed to be Mat and I. He looks very handsome in his little suit, doesn't he? And I would so buy that dress if I saw it somewhere. Sarah totally knows my style.

She is one the coolest women
I know, she downright kicks ass.

Thanks Sarah!
